ephemeral

ephemeral (2024) explores the fragile and fleeting nature of time through long-exposure photography of natural forms. drawing inspiration from julieanne kost’s colour of place works, jones uses motion blur and saturated colour to extend moments that would otherwise pass unnoticed, transforming movement into a painterly visual language. the final work takes the form of a single composed image, layering blurred long-exposure photographs of leaves and floral elements to emphasise transience, motion and transformation. through experimentation with digital processes, the project reflects on how photography can stretch fleeting moments into something immersive and contemplative, inviting viewers to consider the beauty found in impermanence and change.
